A Pint of Cream

Ramblings, Adventures, and Stories

So this is the home of my stories, rants, whatever. There is no guarantee that I will actually use this page, but- you know- I like options....

Yay! I'm finally using this! So, most of you who have read my workbook know I have very little regard for the chivalry in Caid- especially the Pelicans. Why? It is my personal belief that the chivalry should act like role models for the populace. They are what we should all aspire to, people who uphold the greatest and grandest ideals of the SCA and the dream. Instead I'm finding that a majority of them are power hungry, petty politcal wanna be ninnys with no regard for their responisbilites towrads the SCA and the Dream. The remaining minority is split about 60 /40 with the 60 being those who are doing nothing after receiving their precious award and status or just enought to say the did something and bitch, whine, moan, and complain about it the bloody time. The last little bit are those who think like me. They work hard for the Dream- they work hard to keep it from turning into a nightmare for others. They truely are the role models for the rest of us.

But, in truth, most of them suck.

Occasional though- as one of my sensei's used to say- if the wind blows hard enough, even turkeys can fly.

Yes, I know, it's only domestic turkeys that do not possess the ability to fly. Hush now, I'm trying to make a point.

The flock got it right finally. Lo and Behold! They did it twice!

Alexander Kalidokos and Vivienne Duval  both finally got recognized, and it's a damn shame it took them so long.

Alexander has always been someone I've looked up to for many years now. His manner was always very kind and extreamly chivalrous. Infact, I dare say that practically every single peer in the SCA could learn a few things from Alexander. He is, quiet frankly, the model of chivalry in my eyes- modest, unassuming, yet fully confident and highly effective. He never needs to raise his voice- and in fact, I've never known him to really get upset. He encounters a problem, finds and equitable solution and moves on.

He is a modle of Chivalric behaivior.

And then there is Vivienne. Probably the hardest worker in recent Caidan history. She knows her limits, and has no fear in admitting when she can't do something. Her not being able to do something- by the way- is a pretty rare thing. She takes on a job, sees it completely through with a competance that most employers could only wish out of their upper managment teams, figures out what was wrong with the old system and coorect it, then writes everything down!

Vivienne only "complains" when there is a problem she needs advice on, otherwise complaining is non productive to her and therefore, of no use.

Where Alexander is the model of Chivalric behaivior, Vivienne is the model of compentency. Damn, I hope the feathers don;t corrupt them...

Knowing them both, it's more likely that by just them being there, we'll start seeing positive changes within the flock. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
